Westchase Swimmers at 2008 All Star Meet
By Rachel Sellers, Resident of Keswick Forest

The Florida Swimming All Stars defeated the Florida Gold Coast All Stars once again at the Indian River Community College on March 24-25 in Fort Pierce, Florida. The final score was Florida Swimming 647.50 and Florida Gold Coast 623.50, one of the closest scores in the event’s history. The scoring system only awarded points to the top two swimmers from each team, regardless of overall place, and only the top three relays.

The Westchase Swim Team swims for Tampa Bay (TBAY) Aquatics, which is a part of Florida Swimming. Westchase TBAY swimmers brought home several medals and were led by Jared Young in the 10-and-Under Boys age group. Jared took first place in four events, the 50 Free, 100 Free, 200 Free, 50 Fly; second place in the 50 Breast; and third place in the 50 Back. He also swam on the winning 200 Medley

Westchase swimmers Jared Young and Austin Sellers

Relay team and the second-place 200 Freestyle Relay team. Austin Sellers swam six events in the tough 11-12 Boys age group. Austin placed fourth in the 50 Breast and 100 Breast and helped his 200 Medley Relay team to a fifth place finish.
