Qualifying Deadlines Approaching for CDDs
Elections
By Chris Barrett, Editor |
The General Election ballot on Nov. 4 gives residents the opportunity to
run for a position as resident supervisor on Westchase’s two Community
Development Districts (CDDs). Residents of the Westchase Community
Development District, which includes residents in and west of Radcliffe
and Harbor Links/The Estates, will be voting for Seat 3, Seat 4 and Seat
5, currently held by Harbor Links resident Bob Argus, Harbor Links
resident Bill Kemerer and Radcliffe resident Bill Casale.
Residents of the Westchase East Community Development District, which
includes all residents in and east of The Greens and The Fords, will be
voting for Seat 1 and Seat 2, currently held by Kingsford resident Lewis
Patterson and Brentford resident Anthony Sanchez.
In the two supervisors’ elections held since 2004, no seat on either
district has undergone a contest. Residents who have qualified and
registered to run for seats have won by default when no other candidates
stepped forward.
The CDDs meet the first Tuesday of the month at 4 p.m. at the Westchase
Swim and Tennis Center and are responsible for maintenance of Westchase
commons areas, ponds and parks with the exception of the two swim and
tennis centers. Supervisors receive $200 per meeting they attend. For
more information on the role of the CDDs and their supervisors, see the
Westchase Government Primer on page 125.
The deadline for qualifying for the election is noon on June 20.
Residents who wish to qualify for the election by petition must,
however, submit their petition signatures by noon, May 19. A qualifying
fee may be paid in lieu of the petition.
Residents interested in qualifying for the ballot must follow a specific
set of steps as outlined by the Hillsborough County Supervisor of
Elections office. To view these requirements, log onto

information, contact the Supervisor of Elections at 272-5850.
