Why Not Shout Out?
WOW Wants Your Shout Outs
WOW wants your contributions for its Shout Out feature!
WOW regularly has residents contact us about their accomplishments and submit articles about them. Many others are reluctant to do so because of the time it takes or the fear the byline will make them appear boastful. To get more of residents’ good news in WOW, we thought we’d try an easier feature that allows residents to share quick notes of congratulations, thanks or good news without the byline and more demanding article.
Called Shout Outs, the feature will be a collection of short messages saying kudos, congratulations, well-done or “hey, we have some good news.” Parents can use it to praise their kids for some special kind act or accomplishment. Adults can use it to praise their spouses, partners or neighbors for professional accomplishments or those moments when they’ve lent someone a hand or done something special. Everyone can use it to share some good news about themselves, their loved ones or neighbors.
Of course, we’re still going to run the longer articles, but we thought the new Shout Out feature would encourage more reluctant residents to contribute their news to WOW.
Some examples of Shout Outs might be:
Congratulations to Stephanie Smith, 7, or Radcliffe. In a visit to Wyoming, Stephanie managed to hike to the top of Killer Peak, 2,000 feet high. Her parents are so proud of her!
The Powers family of West Park Village wants to thank all their kind neighbors for the meals they delivered during a family member’s recent medical crisis. They especially want to thank Sally Doe, who organized the meals. The Powers have the best neighbors in the world!
All the neighbors on Seabridge Way want to thank the Johnson family for organizing the great block party and water balloon fight in May. We had a blast!
Good luck to Kelly and Bob Stipowicz of The Greens! On June 5, Kelly and Bob opened a new business called Monster Daddy Makeovers. The store is located at 1345 Gunn Hwy. Be sure to stop by and say hi!
Ralph and Laurie Hooper of The Vineyards are really proud of their oldest son Bill. Bill set a goal of getting no grade lower than a B for this past quarter in school and he did it! Way to go, Billy! Keep up the great work!
Steve and Marlene Williams of Woodbay just want to give a warm welcome to Steve’s mom, Ethel, who recently moved in with them. Ethel, 82, is from New York, where she recently retired from Queens Borough City Council. Steve and Marlene are thrilled to have Ethel in Westchase!
The Stevens family of Wycliff welcomes their dad Mark back from his most recent tour of duty in Afghanistan. They are so happy and excited to have their hero back home with them!
Shout Outs can be submitted by the fifteenth of the month to Editor@WestchaseWOW.com. They should be no longer than 50 words. Residents are welcome to submit high resolution photos with their shout out. (Photos should be attached as JPEG files rather than cut and pasted into the e-mail.)
