Library Show to Feature Westchase Artist

The artwork of Jeanne LaPensee is being featured in a solo show during August and September at the Upper Tampa Bay Library.

LaPensee will open her show with a meet the artist reception on Saturday, Aug. 15 from 3:30 until 5:30 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. She will be on hand to discuss her work in greater detail. Her favorite subject is landscapes and she enjoys working in watercolor, Prisma colored pencils and pastels. While she has been interested in painting for some time, she only started painting seriously last year when she retired and joined the Westchase Artists Society. Recently, she began expanding into portraiture drawing of people and animals.

At the June group meeting, Teresa Trubilla did a presentation on how fine artists can make use of Photoshop Elements to size images of their work to use either in print or on screen. While 72 dpi is adequate resolution for use on the Web, printing on paper requires 300 dpi at the actual size the image is going to be output. Hands-on work in Photoshop will continue at the August group meeting. Members are invited to bring their computers and questions.

The Westchase Artists Society is open to all types of visual artists from Upper Tampa Bay. Those interested in learning more about the group are invited to drop by a monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every month at the Upper Tampa Bay Library on Countryway Boulevard. Please bring your creativity and a sample of your artwork to share.

The next group meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. at the Upper Tampa Bay Library. The evening’s agenda will include further work in Photoshop Elements and how it can be helpful to fine artists. Please visit http://www.westchaseartists.com for more information about the evening’s agenda. You can also friend the group on Facebook to stay updated on group activities.
