CDD to Assist Residents with Storm Debris Pickup

With Hurricane Irma gone, residents have been left picking up debris from fallen trees and even fallen fences. Westchase Community Development District (CDD) Office Manager Sonny Whyte contacted WOW today to ask that residents be told that the CDD will attempt to lend a hand with debris removal. Residents can leave storm debris by the road. As time and manpower permits, CDD staff will travel the neighborhood and carry the debris to the dump.

Hillsborough County will also likely announce a storm debris pickup plan in the coming days, giving resident another opportunity to have debris hauled away.

Residents are asked, however, to place storm debris near the road in a fashion that does not block or clog storm water sewers.

The CDD also needs residents to serve as the district’s eyes and ears. If you see a tree that has fallen or is leaning dangerously along any roadside or in the common areas and parks, please email the CDD office at
