Fall Fun with the MOMS Club of Westchase

The MOMS Club of Westchase took full advantage of the slightly cooler weather, and participated in a flurry of festive fall activities.

October meant a return to normalcy for our club, making up for the time lost to Hurricane Irma. We started with a lunch bunch at Tijuana Flats to celebrate Taco Day. We took a family day field trip to visit the pumpkin patch at Sweetfields Farm in Masaryktown. For our moms’ night out, we ventured to Safety Harbor’s Aerie Lane to make Halloween-themed crafts. We wrapped up the month with the kids trick-or-treating at the West Bay of Tampa nursing home, and a Halloween party at the Westchase Recreation Center. The kids loved showing off their costumes to the West Bay residents, and we think the residents enjoyed it too!

By popular demand, we recently started both a fiction and parenting advice book club within the group. The two book clubs meet on alternating months with an extra moms’ night out to discuss the month’s book. Chosen by popular vote, the first two books to be read were How to Talk So Little Kids Will Listen by Joanna Faber and Julie King, and The Lying Game by Ruth Ware.

The club donated to the Mother-to-Mother Fund for the second month in a row to give timely assistance to members of the club in other chapters affected by the recent hurricanes. We feel very fortunate to have dodged the Hurricane Irma bullet, but are very aware that others have not been as lucky. We also donated to the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

Our November philanthropy will be a monetary donation and a non-perishable food drive to benefit Feeding Tampa Bay. We will also be contributing to the Children’s Board Heart Gallery of Tampa Bay, dedicated to finding forever families for Tampa’s foster children.

We are always looking to connect with new moms and local businesses. If you have a business or a babe, please visit to get in touch. Interested in becoming a member but not ready to commit? Attend an event before joining. We’re sure you’ll want us for keeps!
