Improvements Under Way at Westchase Golf Club

On Jan. 1 of this year Green Golf Partners took over the management of the Westchase Golf Club and things – and staff members – have changed.

Senior Vice President Zack Vervaecke said their goal has been to improve the golf course and customer service. “There were a lot of small issues. We are working to change the atmosphere of the club, improve employee morale and provide championship service to our customers.”

Vervaecke said one of the biggest complaints was about the turf conditions on the course. “The turf was very unhealthy. Conditions were spotty. We improved the turf quality so we were able to lower the height of the cut to increase green speed.”

Harbor Links resident Dale Sells has noticed the improvements. “Since the new management company took over, I have really noticed an improvement in the course especially the greens,” he said. “The staff and the overall upkeep around the clubhouse and along the streets is much better than it had been. I look forward to the continued improvement and the extension to the clubhouse and the food options.”

Vervaecke said Green Golf Partners has also restructured the fees golfers pay to play on the course. “There seemed to be 20 different rates. We’ve simplified and reduced the fees and will be offering a seasonal season pass,” he said.

The greens and fees are not the only areas where Green Golf Partners has made improvements. Vervaecke said they have also updated the menu at the restaurant and will continue to do so based on customer requests. In October the restaurant started offering a Saturday prime rib buffet brunch. “We want to change the bar area and restaurant atmosphere. We want people to be excited about coming here whether they play golf or not. We hope to give the restaurant its own character and to be able to offer family nights and activities for all residents.”
