In Memoriam: Nancy Quiros
A wonderful neighbor from the Villas of West Park Village passed away in late December and will be missed. Her husband, Carlos, remembers her and thanks the community…
On behalf of the Quiros family, I wish to express my gratitude to WOW for the opportunity given us to convey our most heartfelt thanks to the Westchase Community Association (WCA) President, board members, voting members, committee chairs, WOW personnel, Community Development District (CDD) staff and other association members, especially those from the Villas of West Park Village, who communicated their condolences in the passing of Nancy, my wife of 57 years, by attending her memorial service, visiting me and the family, sending e-mails and cards and calling.
I met Nancy upon my return from the Korean War and married her two years later in December 1954. We had three wonderful boys, Carlos, Nelson and Sam, who later on in life made us grandparents and great grandparents. Nancy was at all times the wife and mother who helped keep the family happy through the good and not-so-good times. She was the one that kept the home finances, gave me strength through my entire public career and looked after the kids when they came home from school. She was also directly responsible for me going from 118 pounds when we married to over 180 pounds, at present, because of her good cooking.
We moved to Westchase on March 1, 2000. Nancy found it to be the best place we had ever lived in our entire life. Although she always kept a low profile, she was the person most responsible for my active participation in Westchase. She felt it was part of our responsibility to give back as much as we could to our community. I know she is now in a much better place, but my heart still cries for her. I just hope and pray she’ll continue to guide me on the right path until the day we meet again.
