Plan to Attend the Aug. 12 TED Meeting

Westchase residents are encouraged to attend a meeting of the Policy Leadership Group for Transportation and Economic Development in Hillsborough County (TED).

It will be held on Aug. 12 at 1:30 p.m. in the second floor board room of the County Center. The group is comprised of the mayors of Plant City, Tampa and Temple Terrace; Hillsborough County Commissioners; and a HART representative. While these meetings are open to the public, their format does not include public comment opportunities. Meetings are also cablecast and webcast live on Hillsborough County Television.

The Aug. 12 TED agenda will cover an overview of numerous projects now pending but unfunded (including the proposed Citrus Park Drive Extension at about $50 million). It will consider the next steps in reaching Hillsborough’s communities to gain a sense of priorities for funding and perhaps discuss a possible referendum on revenue generation to support priority projects.

Our community is greatly concerned about the growing traffic burdens on West Linebaugh Avenue. Completing the Citrus Park Drive Extension between Countryway Boulevard and Sheldon Road is the solution. The Westchase Community Association has initiated plans to build a multi-community advocacy for the extension. The presence of our residents on Aug. 12 would certainly reflect support of that goal. Please plan to attend.
