Sept 23 Carwash Benefits Brentford Resident
Brentford’s Andrew Abbott, 20, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in mid-April.
A community carwash has been scheduled to benefit Andrew at the Westchase 7-Eleven on Sept. 23 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
Since the initial diagnosis, two types of chemotherapy have been administered to try to shrink the tumorous mass spread across his chest beneath his rib cage. Unfortunately, the doctors at Moffitt Cancer Center here in Tampa, FL are not content with the progress and have recommended that he seek alternative treatment. The options available are mainly clinical trials that are only available in Houston, TX or New York, NY. This will require Andrew and his family to travel to one of these states and stay for an undeterminable amount of time. This will obviously be a significant expense to the Abbott family. Every dollar raised will be to help heal Andrew during this very challenging time of his life.
Andrew grew up in Westchase and attended Westchase Elementary, Davidsen Middle and Alonso High schools. Andrew was Alonso’s star catcher on the baseball team and played all four years. Former and current Alonso baseball team players will be helping during the car wash.
Andrew is currently pursuing a degree in physical therapy at University of Central Florida in hopes of someday having a career that will help others.
Andrew is a strong and driven young man who stays active and always strives for success in school, sports or just simply in the gym. Please plan to stop by. Any donation will be greatly appreciated and will go directly to Andrew and his family to help cover medical expenses.
A GoFundMe account has also been set up for Andrew. You can find it by visiting gofundme.com and searching Andrew Abbott.
