TampabayNEXT Forum Oct. 17

State transportation officials want to listen to what you have to say about local transit needs.

On Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. the Westchase Community Association’s Government Affairs Committee (GAC) will hosting a transportation forum that will allow residents to weigh in on their transit priorities.

The forum will be held at the Westchase Swim and Tennis Center on 10405 Countryway Boulevard. Westchase residents and surrounding neighborhoods are invited to participate.

The Tampabay NEXT forum is an opportunity to interact with the Florida Department of Transportation officials regarding the NEXT Program and how it will reshape Tampa Bay’s transportation infrastructure. The forum will provide an interactive meeting format so participants can share thoughts about the multimodal transportation choices being planned for our area.

Tampa Bay NEXT is an FDOT program to modernize Tampa Bay’s transportation infrastructure and prepare for the future. Among other projects they are discussing are improvements to the Howard Frankland Bridge, the downtown interchange of I4 and I275 and the I4 an I75 connector.

The program is the successor to the previously controversial and ultimately scrapped TBX program, which called for the creation of additional toll lanes on local interstates.

“This is an opportunity for us as a community to interact with FDOT NEXT and voice our opinions, concerns, thoughts, and have our questions answered regarding transportation issues for our community,” said Rick Goldstein, Chair of the Westchase Community Association’s Government Affairs Committee.
