WCA Board Chooses Officers

Meeting on Sept. 15 for its organizational meeting following the association’s annual elections, the WCA Board of Directors selected its officers for the coming year.

The only item on the agenda of the organizational meeting was the board’s selection of its officers.

Garnering the greatest discussion was the selection of board president. While previous Westchase Community Association (WCA) president Joaquin Arrillaga still has one year of his board term left, he declined to run for reelection at the board president. Arrillaga quickly expressed support for Director Ruben Collazo, who previously served a term as president about six years ago. WCA Director Brian Ross, in turn, indicated his support for Director Rick Goldstein, who attended the meeting by phone. Ross encouraged board members to turn to the group’s newest members for officers. When a poll of the board illustrated at least five members in support of Collazo, however, Ross made a motion to appoint Collazo with unanimous consent of the board and the motion passed unanimously.

Officers for the board’s other positions were then quickly filled in short order, with unanimous motions appointing Rick Goldstein both WCA Vice President and chair of the Government Affairs Committee (GAC), new director Forrest Baumhover as WCA treasurer, and Director Keith Heinemann as WCA Secretary and the board’s liaison to the WOW Board.

Thanking board members for their support, Collazo added, “My first official act as president is to thank Joaquin for his five years of service [as president].”

Concluding, the group briefly discussed plans for celebrating Westchase’s 25th anniversary, which is this year.
