WCA Board Names 2015 Officers

The Westchase Community Association (WCA) Board of Directors held its annual organizational meeting Thursday, Sept. 11, to elect its officers and welcome new board members.

Joaquin Arrillaga was elected WCA president and Ken Blair vice president. Keith Heinemann and Dyan Pithers were elected secretary and treasurer respectively.

Joe Odda was appointed chairman of the Government Affairs Committee and Keith Heinemann was re-appointed WOW member liaison.

This year’s new board members include Brian Ross, who has previously served on the WCA board, and Glencliff Voting Member Kathy Carlsen.

During the meeting, WOW Inc. Director Mary Griffin presented the board with a painting by Bridges resident Ruth Smith. Smith’s painting of the West Park Village swimming pool was featured on the cover of this summer’s residents’ directory. Smith said she was always interested in science and art and had a career in medical, biological, and scientific illustration before becoming a stay-at-home mom. “About three years ago, just as something for myself, I started painting,” said Smith. “I like painting nature and animals. I’m just seeing where it goes from here.”

Smith’s painting will be on display at the WCA office at 10049 Parley Drive.

The next WCA Board of Directors meeting will be Oct. 9, at 7 p.m., at the WCA office. Residents are welcome to come with any comments or inquiries relating to the WCA.
