WOW Bids Farewell to Longtime Business Manager

This month also brings a remarkably sad moment for me and for a lot of folks in Westchase.

At the end of May, we will be saying goodbye to Tracy Urso, my fellow WOW team member. Tracy is responsible for so much remarkable goodness throughout Westchase and the Northwest area.

Over my 15 years working with Tracy, I have watched her play a significant role in transforming WOW into a thriving newsmagazine and one of the Westchase area’s most significant charitable entities. Among other things, she has built The Great

West Chase into one of the Bay area’s best, most successful charitable races. In the last three years alone, this event has brought nearly $100,000 to disadvantaged kids at Davis and Bellamy Elementary Schools, local Title I schools. Yet her work with WOW only represents a portion of the impact she has had on the greater Westchase community.

Name a local organization – particularly those that have directly touched our kids for the better – and it’s likely that Tracy has either participated in them or led them outright. Her energy and dedication have been tireless and inspiring. In addition to numerous committees, she has served as PTA president of Westchase Elementary, PTSA president at Davidsen Middle School and president of Alonso High School’s Booster Club.

From that first WOW Distribution Day back in 2001 when I walked into the Westchase Swim and Tennis Center and met her, I have watched Tracy’s family grow up. As Tracy, her husband Dave, and her wonderful sons Austin and Jack relocate to Nashville, I have found myself fretting over how on earth we will ever properly honor or even replace Tracy.

She has touched my life – and the lives of thousands of other Westchase folks – for the better.

Tracy, you will be greatly missed. You are unreplaceable.

What makes me happy? Our goodbyes will not be permanent. Tracy is keeping her Westchase home in hopes of one day retiring here. Best of all, we’ll see her again at October’s race!

In the meantime, I wish Tracy, Dave, Austin and Jack much happiness in their new adventures in Nashville.
