The long vacant Sears department store is now home to Elev8 Fun, a family-friendly indoor entertainment center. Slated to open June 1, the two-story, 125,000-square-foot space houses games, attractions, a bar and restaurant. The first Elev8 Fun opened in the Seminole Towne Center in Sanford in 2021, and there are plans for more locations, including the Treasure Coast Mall in Jensen Beach.
Elev8 Fun offers go-karts, bowling, an arcade, laser tag, a ropes course, mini-golf and axe throwing. The second floor is home to a full go-kart track with cars for kids and adults. Also on the second floor are a laser tag arena, an axe throwing area and a bar. Fans of bowling have two types to choose from which include duckpin bowling in the arcade area and 12 full-size lanes. There are 18 holes of glow-in-the-dark mini-golf with a Caribbean pirate theme. The large arcade area includes new and classic games as well as virtual reality games. More virtual reality is offered in the Omni Arena where users are strapped in and able to walk around in the virtual world without leaving their station. Unique to the Tampa Elev8 Fun location is Triotech’s XD Dark Ride where eight riders are seated before a curved screen. Wearing a seatbelt, each rider gets a gaming gun for an immersive shooting game with a variety of themes such as pirates, zombies, robots, aliens and werewolves.
Elev8 Fun’s restaurant, PL8 Bar & Grill, offers burgers, wings, salads, pizza, sandwiches, tacos, flatbreads and more. There is a bar on both the first and second levels with local beer on tap.
Games and attractions are priced a la carte, or several activity bundle options are available which include a $10 arcade credit. Weekday pricing is valid Monday through Thursday, and weekend pricing is valid Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Some of Elev8 Fun’s attractions have age and height requirements and require closed toe shoes. For more information, visit www.elev8fun.com.
