If you’re looking for an adrenaline-pumping adventure right in your own backyard, look no further than Empower Adventures, just minutes away in Oldsmar. This thrilling ziplining experience offers not only a chance to safely soar through the trees and over the bay, but it is also a great way to create unforgettable memories with your family and friends.
Located just steps from R.E. Olds Park and Mobbly Bayou, Empower Adventures offers more than just a typical zipline tour. Unlike other ziplining experiences that focus solely on the thrill of speeding across the canopy, Empower Adventures intertwines optional challenges within the course that are meant to help your personal empowerment, hence the brand name. Open to anyone aged 7 and above, the only requirements are that you are in good physical health, weigh between 70-270 pounds, are not pregnant, wear closed-toed shoes, and women must wear their hair back in a low ponytail. The course consists of several zip lines, suspension bridges (some over water) and a few obstacles, like the “three rope challenge” where you have to walk a tightrope while using only three hand ropes to make it across. The tour runs roughly two hours, depending on how many people are in your party. Their guides are not only masters of safety, but motivation and corny jokes as well! They had us chuckling the entire tour and will help you face your fears and step out of your comfort zone. We decided to end 2024 with an adventure here, opting for the sunset zipline tour with photo package, and Josh and Avery were the best guides we could have asked for. They made us feel comfortable and safe, all while making it fun, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to bid the year farewell. From the moment we arrived, the emphasis was not just on zipping, but on the experience as a whole. Safety was top priority, and their initial introduction and instruction made us feel at ease with our equipment and the automatic brakes on the course. The towers and tree platforms are located in a preserve, which gave us the opportunity to soar with birds, above the resident gators, and we even enjoyed looking for dolphins that are sometimes seen traversing the waters near the mangroves. Our guides candidly told us they named the alligators who call the preserve home, with our favorite being “Darth-Gator. They shared the history of the area, and at the highest point talked about the lay of the land and pointed out what cities and towns were in which direction. Watching the sun set over Tampa Bay for the last time in 2024 from 60 feet up was breathtaking, and the ziplining was exhilarating. There was an optional add-on where you could climb a 40-foot pole and, if you are brave enough, stand on top, jump to ring a bell, and safely land back down on the ground. We decided that would be an adventure for a different day.
